Rhett Ransom Pennell was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He now lives deep in the woods of Sparta, New Jersey (an hour away from NYC) with his lovely wife Margaret, his super-genius daughter Marea, and a forest full of bears...creepy, creepy bears. For the last ten years, Rhett has made his living writing and illustrating children's picture books and designing toys. His first book, Excuse Me, Are You a Dragon?, became a musical puppet show for StoneLion Puppet Theatre--he wrote the script and lyrics. All his books have been published by Greene Bark Press. Rhett was an inhouse illustrator/industrial designer for Shelcore Toys for 5+ years. Toys he's designed and packaging he's illustrated can be seen in Walmart, Toys R Us, and stores all over the world. As an artist and designer, Rhett has worked on all kinds of projects.
